Apple iOS 5 review First look

Apple iOS 5 review First lookIntroduction
It's June again, time for Apple to make headlines. The WWDC is over and the iOS 5 and the iCloud are now official. It won't be before the fall though that the iOS 5 will officially launch.
However, Apple has given us a taste of the iOS 5 by releasing a developer preview soon after the announcement. We went on to update an iPhone 4 with the beta release and we are ready to share our first impressions.
    Apple iOS 5 new features:
Notifications - real time on-screen notifications, lockscreen notifications and pull-down Notification Center
iMessage service in the Messaging app enabling instant messages to other iOS users
    Reminders - including location-aware options
Customizable notification sounds - email, voicemail and calendar alerts
    Twitter integration

    iCloud service integration
Enhanced Camera app - viewfinder grid, hardware shutter key
Integrated photo editing - crop, auto enhance, rotate and red-eye fix
Updated Safari - tabbed browsing (on iPad), private browsing mode, integrated Reader, Reading list and optimized performance
    Dictionary lookup throughout the interface
Computer free operation - independent activation, OTA updates, iCloud backup and restore
Wi-Fi synchronization with iTunes with automatic operation
New features in the Mail app - Bold, Italic, Underline and Quote options, extended Search, mass Mark as Read/Unread and Flag setting, Add/Delete mailbox folders
Updated Calendar and Game Center apps
Newsstand app combining all of your magazine subscriptions

iPod player now called Music, has new icon
    Separate Video app for iPhone
AppStore purchase history (already available for iOS 4 too)
New Storage management options (list and info of all installed apps)
    Multi-tasking gestures for iPad
    AirPlay mirroring for iPad
New accessibility options involving the LED flash and custom vibrations
Typically, there's still plenty of stuff missing and some of the things will probably never make it to the iOS. Here is a list of the things we continue to miss:
    Still missing:
No Flash support in the web browser
No quick toggles for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G
    No Facebook integration
No proper widgets for the lockscreen
App folders still are limited to 12 apps tops
No DivX/XviD video support out of the box (though there're lots of players in the App Store)
No USB Mass storage mode for uploading content to the device
    No haptics for the touchscreen
No Bluetooth file transfers to other phones
Contacts lack a swipe-to-delete or mass delete feature
Well, the list is notably shorter than last year's. It's debatable though whether Apple listened to the users or just filled their time with low-priority features that have been on the list for quite some time. Either way, some of the new stuff is quite good so let's waste no more time on introductions. Follow us on the next page where we start to explore the iOS 5 at close range.

Install Android 2.3.6 (GRK39F) On Nexus S

Google has started rolling out Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread (Build GRK39F) for their latest Google experience smartphone, the Nexus S. We are here to guide you how you can install the update right now in an easy to follow manner.
The company hasn’t officially announced what is new in GRK39F, but according to reports flying around, it apparently fixes the tethering issue which plagued Nexus S units with Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread Build: GRK39C. Everything else remains the same, but if Google does announce any other features for this build, we’ll let you know.
Owners of the Google Nexus S now have two options: they can wait it out till Google pushes an over-the-air (OTA) update which will let them install GRK39F with a tap of a virtual button or they can follow our guide after the disclaimer and do it manually like Android enthusiasts do. How To Install Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread (GRK39F) Update On Nexus S. With GRJ22 installed, you can now follow our step-by-step guide post below:

-1: Download Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread (GRK39F) update for your Google Nexus S.

Step 3: Connect your Nexus S with Pc to transfer update.zip to the root/parent-directory of your phone.
Step 4: After completing transfer, turn off your Nexus S.
Step 5: Hold down Power + Volume Down until you get into your bootloader (you’ll know when you do) and then go into Recovery mode.
Step 6: Select apply sdcard update.zip.
Step 7: Wait for the update to be installed and then reboot back into Android.
If you followed the steps correctly, you should now have Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread GRK39F with working tethering installed. Nexus One user? Simply follow our guide posted here on how to manually download and install Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread on said device.

Redsn0w 0.9.9b1 Download

Redsn0w 0.9.9b1 DownloadMuscleNerd, iPhone-Dev has just released redsn0w 0.9.9b1 with some major improvements. New version of redsn0w, redsn0w 0.9.9 b1 comes with tons of new feature including automatic device detection in DFU mode and now you don’t need to select IPSW manually, it will detect and download required files from Apple servers for you.Redsn0w 0.9.9b1 works on same device and firmwares but remeber it won”t detect or download iOS 5 beta files because they’re meant for developers only. You’ll have to manually select iOS 5 Beta IPSW files.Complete change log and release notes of redsn0w 0.9.9b1:A bunch of new features!

-DFU automatically determine which device and FW you have.
-Fetches pieces of public IPSWs from Apple (once).
-"Just boot" is a tethered boot.
-"Pwned DFU" puts your device in a pwned DFU state.
-"Recovery fix" gets past 1015 types of errors.
-"Select IPSW" is for picking non-public IPSWs.
-"SHSH blobs" has a bunch of options…
-"Fetch"– fetch current PARTIAL blobs on device
-"Verify" – cryptographically verifies existing blob files from either redsn0w, TinyUmbrella.
-"Submit"-both verifies and submits one or more blob files to Cydia
-"Query"-queries the Cydia server for all available full or partial blobs.
-"Stitch"-stitches either FULL or PARTIAL blobs to a STOCK or CUSTOM IPSW.
    1. FULL blobs stitched to a STOCK IPSW gives you a completely self-contained signed IPSW that iTunes will accept without any tricks.
    2. PARTIAL blobs stitched to any IPSW requires you to go into pwned DFU mode before running iTunes.
    3. Stitching either FULL or PARTIAL blobs to a CUSTOM IPSW also requires a pwned DFU start before iTunes restores.
    4. Stitching is NOT yet supported on iPhones (well, at least not tested).
    5. Will eventually support fetching the blobs directly from Cydia instead of a file on your computer.

iPad 3 Reports

iPad 3 Parts Reportedly In ProductionThe iPad 3 have already begun production, say reports, which gives plenty of credence to the thought that 2011 will see the release of the newest tablet. With these new components, word is that tablet manufacture levels are on par with what they were this summer, suggesting that earlier reports from our own J. Angelo Racoma that said Apple was looking to make the unusual move of cutting back on its iPad 2 orders going into the Christmas shopping season were indeed true, which is pretty much the opposite of what you’d expect.

But given this fact, those reports make an extra note of sense. This fact would be strange by any normal measure–normally when you’re going into a big shopping season like Christmas (which is always at least comparatively big), you get more product, not less–but if Apple’s looking to bring in a new tablet for 2012, especially if they’re looking at a first or second quarter release, it doesn’t surprise me at all that they’d start dialing back on their orders for the end of 2011. This lets the Christmas shopping rushes take care of the excess inventory (and possibly even offer up some impressive Black Friday and post-Christmas sale specials).Source URL: http://k12-information.blogspot.com/2011/09/

Samsung Intercept Review

    Samsung Intercept Review 1

    Samsung Intercept Review
Almost a year after the release of the Samsung Moment, Samsung is finally adding more Android phones to the Sprint lineup. Though most data-hungry professionals might want to wait for the Samsung Epic 4G (which is also one of Samsung's Galaxy S series of handsets), the Samsung Intercept is geared more toward the budget-conscious consumer.

    Design
Samsung has a tendency to stick with similar designs for most of its phones, and that is true with the Intercept. Indeed, if you didn't pay close attention to the details, the Intercept looks similar to the Samsung Acclaim, and also to the aforementioned Samsung Moment. It measures 4.43 inches long by 2.19 inches wide by 0.59 inch thick, and it has rounded corners, smooth chrome-plated sides, and a soft touch material on the battery cover that gives it a comfortable feel in the hand.
It has a smooth and responsive capacitive display, and thanks to Android 2.1, it supports pinch-to-zoom as well.
Underneath the display are the usual Android sensor hot keys laid out in a row. If you hold down the home button, a task manager will appear showing recently opened applications. On the right side are the 3.5mm headset jack and camera key. Slide the phone's display to the right, and you'll find full four-row QWERTY keyboard. The arrow keys are highlighted in gray.

    Features
The Samsung Intercept comes with Android 2.1 right out of the gate, which is great news if you want a modern Android OS smartphone. We've always questioned if the Samsung TouchWiz interface fit well within Android, and thankfully the Intercept just has the standard Android UI.

    Samsung Intercept Review 2

The Samsung Intercept was recently introduced to the Sprint lineup as an mid-range option. It offers Android OS 2.1, a 3-inch display, a sliding QWERTY keyboard, and a 3.2 megapixel camera. Maybe in this case, "intercept" means to intercept the attention of first-time smartphone users.

    BUILD & DESIGN
As with many devices that pack a sliding keyboard and touchscreen, the Intercept can seem a bit thick.

    Screen
The primary feature on the front is a 3-inch, 400 by 240 pixel display.
Intercept's lower-cost roots, this is not an AMOLED or Super AMOLED screen, but a traditional reflective LCD.
It's pretty good in most lighting, and the ambient light sensor adjusts the backlight quickly and well.
Unfortunately, the major issue with this screen is outside light.

    Keyboard
The Intercept's QWERTY keyboard is one of its best features. The keyboard was a feature that many people said made the Intercept a likable device.

    Other Buttons and Controls
Below the screen is a touch-sensitive area of the four command buttons (Menu, Home, Search, and Back). The volume buttons (left side) and camera button (right-bottom) were a bit stubborn to work initially. Tucked away on the bottom left are a memory card slot with a 2 GB microSDHC memory card inside. The top of the right side of the Intercept has a 3.5 mm audio jack.
The Samsung Intercept runs Google's Android OS 2.1 (also known as Éclair). Wireless/Call Quality
The Samsung Intercept offers access to Sprint's 3G network (EV-DO Rev. 0) and includes Wi-Fi b/g, Bluetooth, and a GPS receiver.

    Productivity
The Intercept's address book is a similar affair to many other Android devices, allowing one to add accounts from places such as Google, Twitter, and MySpace -- in addition to the built-in contacts you might have. Likewise, the phone application is simple, showing a black-on-white contrast and four easy access icons to the keypad, call log, favorites, and contacts. Whether using Wi-Fi or EV-DO, the Intercept was solid in most page loads. In the music department, the Intercept is a great workout assistant. Google Maps is included.

    Camera
The Intercept's camera has its own share of button gremlins. The only issue that I've seen is that the initial loading of gallery thumbnails seems to be a bit slower than other mobile devices.
Using the Samsung Intercept was a big drop down for me after using such high-end models as the Samsung Captivate. The other aspect was the size of the Intercept and the keyboard. I can recommend the Samsung Intercept. Overall, Samsung and Sprint really have a nice model here.

Unlock iPhone 4.2

Unlock iPhone 4.2You may be wondering if it’s possible to Unlock Iphone 4.2. Doing this process is called Jailbreak. Jailbreaking your iPhone lets you add ripped apps, add extra features and bypass certain limitations, which makes it easy to understand why you want to do it. However, jailbreaking your iPhone voids its warranty and if you don’t know what you’re doing, you could “brick” your iPhone, which renders it useless and requires a complete restore.

    1. Clean the browser cache. Like any computer, things slow down when the cache builds up with leftover stuff. Although the cache is built to store files that are frequently accessed to speed up programs such as the Safari web browser,1. Clean the browser cache.
    2. Quit applications properly. Unlike your desktop or laptop, applications on your iPhone aren’t so easy to quit. The processor can be taxed with all the additional work created by these apps.
    3. Update your iPhone. When people in the iPhone community complained of lags in the past, the issues causing them were fixed in the subsequent update.
    4. Close any programs that you are not actively using. When you open a program your hard drive has to instantly devote some temporary memory towards the program.
    5. Install memory management apps. The app store has plenty of applications that can help you monitor the memory usage of your iPhone and help you clear any processes that you want to stop running.
    6. Erase any unnecessary programs. Your phone’s operating system needs some memory space so it can process information faster. Unlock your iPhone 4.2 and use its full potential!

Fix Cydia Running Very Slow After Jailbreaking

Cydia Running Very Slow After JailbreakingOne of our readers complain about the slowness of Cydia app after jailbreaking iPhone 3GS on iOS 4.2.1 using Greenpoison for Windows. so here’s the solution. We will show you two ways to fix the slowness of Cydia App after jailbreaking iPhone 3GS on iOS 4.2.1 using Greenpoison for Windows.Way 1: first try to reset your phone’s network setting to do this follow the step below: Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings.Way 2 : if you have added a new Cydia repo before this error? If yes, try to remove it and reboot your iOS device. You can follow the steps below on how to uninstall broken Cydia repo.

Make sure that you have the latest version of Cydia (version 1.1.1) installed on your jailbroken iPhone.
If you have the old version, then I would recommend you to update your Cydia by using the steps below:
Step 1: Launch Cydia and go to Changes. Then under Changes tab, tap the Refresh button in the top left corner to start downloading Cydia 1.1.1.
Step 2: After Cydia download is complete and all packages have been updated, the app will prompt you with the option to complete the Upgrade in order to install the new Cydia. This process will take few minutes as it also updates other repos, apps, and tweaks that you installed on your device.

Download iFaith v1.3.2 For Windows

iH8Sn0w released a couple of updates for iFaith, bringing iFaith to version 1.3.2.What is new in iFaith v1.3.2Used a different method to convert binary plists from TinyUmbrella SHSH Blobs to xml format to parse.Fixed minor restore issues on 4.3.x for iPad 3G models. The .NET framework that came pre-shipped with Windows Vista didn’t have an essential resource used in iFaith.

A new method has been implemented to get around this requirement.Fixed issue where iTunes’ plist utility was unable to be located on international language formatted pcs.
Note: iFaith v1.3.2 only supports up to the iOS 4.3.3 firmware. In case you are not yet familiar with iH8Sn0w’s SHSH blob saving tool iFaith, here is a quick run-down:
iFaith allows you to dump SHSH blobs directly on to your physical iDevice. Now the difference between other SHSH saving programs like TinyUmbrella is that iFaith allows you to save SHSH blobs for a specific firmware you are running even if Apple is not currently signing that firmware. In most cases, using iFaith is also a more reliable way to downgrade your iDevice. For example: If you wanted to save your iOS 4.3.3 SHSH blobs right now using a tool like TinyUmbrella you would not be able to. Using a tool like iFaith, however, you could save your SHSH blobs on the iOS 4.3.3 firmware.

Fix jailbreak error 1600

Fix jailbreak error 1600Some of you might have noticed the annoying 1604, 1600 error when restoring to iOS 4 custom firmware in iTunes which is built using PwnageTool. Steps to fixing 1604 iPhone restore error: 1. There is no need to reinstall iTunes or whatever. Keep the same version that you have used to restore or backup previously.2. Make sure that iPhone is disconnected from your computer and that iTunes is closed.

    3. The following step of fixing 1604 iPhone restore error is Windows XP specific, if you are a Mac user, you may have to locate the folders yourselves as I am not sure: Go to folder C:\Documents and Settings\<username you use to login to windows>\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates. You will see one or more files. Cut and paste them somewhere else. Do not delete them in case the steps does not work for you, you can still copy them back to the folder. You can find out your username by doing a Ctrl-Alt-Del. If somehow you cannot find the folder, you are probably in the wrong user directory.
    4. Launch iTunes and put your iPhone in recovery mode. Refer to this article on Unable To Restore iPhone on how to do put iPhone in recovery mode.
    5. Proceed with restore and iTunes will download the update online. If you are downgrading to a lower version, do step 3 and leaving only the firmware file that you want to downgrade to. Double click on the file and iTunes will begin the restore.

Fix jailbreak error 3194

Fix jailbreak error 3194If you run into Error 3194 within iTunes when you are trying to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you can fix it by temporarily blocking Apple’s firmware signing services. Error 3194 seems to be triggered when unsigned firmware is used, often during an iOS downgrade or even during some restores. Here’s how to resolve the error:

    Fix Error 3194
The fix is the same regardless of what operating system you are using:
    Quit iTunes
Locate your hosts file, in Mac OS X this is /etc/hosts and in Windows this is c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Open the hosts file with Administrator privileges
Add the following lines to the very bottom of the hosts file:
    74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com

Connect your iPhone to the computer
    Launch iTunes
Put the iPhone/iPad/iPod into DFU mode by turning the phone off and then holding down the sleep and power button for 10 seconds, then release the power button but hold onto the home button until iTunes tells you that the device is now in recover mode
Use the iTunes Restore feature as usual with the iOS device
Once your iOS update is finished, remove the “74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com” line from your hosts file again so that iTunes can properly update as usual. If you need them, you can get iPhone firmware, iPad firmware, and iPod touch firmware directly from Apple. If you are wondering what the IP address is that you are reassociating gs.apple.com with, it’s saurik’s (of Cydia fame) signing server. Thank you to Parakeet for providing this fix.

iPad 2 hacked @comex

iPad 2 hackediPad 2 was just recently released, and already, a hacker is claiming that he's already cracked it open. A guy going by the handle of @comex at Twitter posted this video of the iPad 2, allegedly jailbroken. In the video, you cn see Cydia 1.1 running on the latest craze gadget from Apple.
He said in his tweet, "Would've had it yesterday if I didn't have to spend 15 days looking for a replacement exploit."  Although the hack came just in the heels of the iPad 2 release, it still took quite a bit longer than usual, presumably because Apple had tried to strengthen its defenses against hackers.
It's still a breakthrough nonetheless for those looking to jailbreak their iPad 2. Check out iPad 2 running on Cydia 1.1

How to stop iPhone or iPad asking to join Wi-Fi networks

stop your iPhone or iPad asking to join Wi-Fi networksWhen your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch is not connected to a WiFi network and it sees one, it will ask if you want to join. This is a really handy feature when you want to join it however what about if you don’t? If you are in an area with a lot of networks it can quickly become very irritating, dealing with these pop ups. Well the good news is that you can stop it from happening.
    -Start off by selecting Settings
    -Then open WiFi

-Scroll down to the bottom of the page
-Flick the toggle switch for Ask to Join Networks to Off
That is all there is to it. You will no longer receive pop ups asking you to join WiFi networks. Of course if you do want to join a network you will have to do it manually from now on.
    -Start off by selecting Settings
    -Then open WiFi
-Select the network you want to join
-Enter any password needed to access that networkSource URL: http://k12-information.blogspot.com/2011/09/

Just Weeks Away From The iPhone 5

Apple iPhone 5I think everyone knows that a new iPhone is coming soon and we now also have proof that it is coming in weeks to come. 2 Apple employees reported to The New York Times a “fairly different” iPhone 5 is “just weeks away” from being announced. “We’re just weeks away from the announcement of the new Apple iPhone 5, according to an Apple employee who asked not to be named because he was not allowed to speak publicly for the company.” Remember our report of the Case-Mate case leaks? Well there is an answer to that too.

The New York Times got a report from someone inside Apple: “From descriptions I’ve heard of the new iPhone from Apple employees, the images seemed potentially authentic. But it seems that Case-Mate might be sneakily trying to take advantage of the excitement over the phone by posting and then unposting the images. These things rarely happen accidentally, especially when it comes to new Apple products. Sneaky public relations tactics aside, an engineer familiar with the new iPhone said it would be fairly different from the iPhone 4 — including on the inside.” The sources also say that the iPhone will have a 8MP camera and could possibly have NFC technology.

iCloud to be Reset on September 22, iOS 5 GM

All eyes are on Apple this week, as the entire tech industry awaits the company’s iPhone 5 announcement. Although Tim Cook and company haven’t officially said anything yet, there’s a lot of evidence piling up that suggests it’s close. Besides the new smartphone, there are a few other highly anticipated announcements that Apple is expected to make in the coming weeks. There’s iCloud, Apple’s painless sync and storage service, and of course the major update for iOS — iOS 5. It’s been 18 days since Apple seeded Beta 7 of the new software, so we’d be remiss not to expect the next release shortly.
    Apple iCloud
MacRumors helped shine some light on the subject last night, by announcing the latest word from Apple to developers: “On Thursday, September 22, the iCloud Backup data will be reset. Backing up to iCloud or restoring from an iCloud backup will be unavailable from 9 AM PDT – 5 PM PDT. If you attempt a backup or restore during this time, you will receive an alert that the backup or restore was not successful. After this reset, you will be unable to restore from any backup created prior to September 22. A ful backup will happen automatically the next time your device backs up to iCloud.”As Mark Gurman of 9to5Mac points out, the iCloud reset date lines up well with the rumors of an iOS 5 GM seed on September 23rd. Game Center was reset the day before iOS 4.1 was released, so it isn’t crazy to think a GM build isn’t too far off.

    iOS5 Has Been Jailbroken

The iPhone jailbreakers! Less than 24 hours after iOS5 was announced at WWDC, Apple's developer conference taking place in San Francisco this week, a member of the iPhone hacking collective known as the Dev-Team confirmed that the new operating system (OS) has been jailbroken.
Hackers already have their hands on the developer beta of the OS, which launched yesterday. It appears that this version of iOS is still susceptible to one of the existing exploits they use to provide jailbreaking tools to end users.
      Jailbroken iOS5
According to a tweet from the Dev-Team's @MuscleNerd, he was able to jailbreak iOS5 running on an iPod Touch 4G using the limera1n jailbreaking method. Unfortunately, this jailbreak is tethered, which means you have to have your iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad connected (or "tethered") to your computer whenever you reboot your device, in order to maintain the jailbreak.
Most jailbreakers will likely wait for an untethered option to become available before proceeding to upgrade to the new OS.As proof of the jailbreak, @MuscleNerd posted the following screenshots of a jailbroken iOS5, showing the Cydia (jailbreak app store) and iSSH icons on the iPod Touch's homescreen. You can tell that this is iOS5 because other new icons are present, too, including "Newsstand," the new home for your newspaper and magazines subscriptions on iOS5, and "Reminders," a simple to-do list application.
      Jailbroken iOS5
      Will You Still Jailbreak?
In addition, while committed jailbreakers and unlockers (those who run their iPhones on unsupported cellular networks) will probably continue to hack their phones, many more casual jailbreakers may be happy enough with iOS5 to leave it as is this time.
After all, several of the most popular tweaks and enhancements are now core to the OS itself. One notable example is that of Mobile Notifier, an alternative notification system for iOS devices. In fact, the application's creator, Peter Hajas, was hired by Apple only days before the reveal of iOS5. The similarities between the jailbreak version and Apple's striking. For now, Hajas only has "intern" status at Apple, but his hire may serve as inspiration for future hackers looking to move from the jailbreaking world to the Apple design team itself.

As A Leader In 4g Phones

First photo taken with an iPhone 5

A photo of a plate of sushi. Doesn’t seem all that important, right? Wrong.
It is, if the photo was taken using an iPhone 5.
Pocketnow.com has recently stumbled upon a photo of a plate of sushi, supposedly taken using an iPhone 5.
Although the EXIF data points to an iPhone 4, there were some, “inaccuracies”…
First photo taken with an iPhone 5
      Pocketnow tells it better:
“This (very attractive) photo claims to have been taken by an iPhone 4 but the rest of its EXIF data tells a different story: although the image has been cropped to 2235?2291 (5.12 megapixels), the original picture was a much larger 3264?2448 — or just shy of eight megapixels. What’s more, the lens was recorded as a 4.3mm f/2.4, which is closer to that of a point-and-shoot than the iPhone 4?s actual 3.85mm f/2.8. (Remember that the upcoming HTC Runnymede is said to have an aperture of f/2.2.)”
Even though rumors and leaks involving EXIF data should be taken with a pinch of salt, (because EXIF data can be easily manipulated and faked) the fact that this photo was taken by an Apple engineer gives a lot more credence to this story. Anton D’Auria, the Apple engineer who took the photo, uploaded it to his Flickr account (which was recently been made private) and entitled it, “lunch”.
There are also some other aspects of this photo that seem to give further evidence of it being taken using an iPhone 5, like the fact that it was taken at Cupertino, CA, which is Apple’s HQ.

Sprint To Offer iPhone 5 With Unlimited Data Plan

Sprint is widely speculated to also offer Apple iPhone 5 when it is launched in the next few weeks.
According to Bloomberg, Sprint has decided to offer the iPhone 5, which is set for a mid October release, paired with an “unlimited” data plan. Bloomberg has just reported that Sprint will indeed be offering Apple iPhone 5 next month and will be offering iPhone customers an unlimited data plan to compete with AT&T and Verizon who have moved to tiered data plans.
Sprint iPhone 5 With Unlimited Data Plan
Sprint CEO Dan Hesse mentioned that the idea will be scrapped if it starts to cost too much for the company in terms of taxes. “If I have an all-you-can-eat buffet, and the entire New England Patriots football team shows up for dinner, it’s going to run me out of business,” said Dan Hesse.
With AT&T and T-Mobile in the midst of a merge, Sprint may drop to last place in terms of carrier rankings, while Verizon is doing much better recently, with it’s iPhone sales going through the roof.

Chronic Dev Team Actively Working On Untethered Jailbreak For iOS 5

As you may know, while jailbreak tools like Redsn0w released by the iPhone Dev team and Sn0wbreeze by iH8sn0w can jailbreak the beta versions of iOS 5, they only support a tethered jailbreak.
This means means that you need to connect your iOS device to the computer on every reboot, which is not very convenient. The good news is that Chronic Dev team are actively working to on an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5. Chronic Dev team had released greenpois0n to jailbreak iOS 4.2.1.
      Jailbreak For iOS 5
In the last few days, pod2g - member of the Chronic Dev team has tweeted:
yeah, the whole chronic-dev team is still alive and actively working on iOS 5 !
Nearly everything in my life except my job changed... Also, I worked on some exploit that took me lot of time. That would be a great mistake to give info about iOS 5 jailbreak.
There won't be untethered jailbreaks for iOS 5 betas. It would give too much intel to Apple to fix.
We may be reading too much between the lines but lets hope that the jailbreaking community has figured out to support an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5. We're also quite sure that iPhone Dev team is also working on it.

It will be also interesting to see if Apple fixes the exploit that allows the tethered jailbreak in the next beta version of iOS 5, which may be the final beta version before Apple releases iOS 5 golden master and then releases it to the public.

Apple To Hold Media Event To Unveil iPhone 5 On October 5th

It is widely speculated that Apple's iPhone 5, which is already seeing unprecedented demand will be available in the first half of October. In fact, we've have heard October 7th and October 15th as the possible release dates, which means that Apple needs to have the special media event to launch their new iPhone either at the end of September or the first week of October.
      iPhone 5 On October 5th
PockerGamer has just reported that according to their source, Apple will be holding the special media event to finally launch iPhone 5 on October 5th.
      PocketGamer reports:
Our inside source says there will be a press conference announcing the new hardware on October 5th, with retail release occurring a week later. This broadly fits with the movement of recent rumours, which peaked with a - since proven erroneous - 21st October release date, bought forward to a October 15th date, according to Orange CEO Stephane Richard.
The symbolism part is interesting, though it remains to be seen if Apple uses the date to just unveil the new iPhone or to release it to the public. It has also been rumored that iOS 5 will be released on October 10th, which seems to fit well with the October 5th launch event.
Apple is also expected to unveil the next generation iPod touch product line and a cheaper entry-level iPhone called iPhone 4S at the media event.
We can't wait to see Apple's fifth generation iPhone. What about you?

    What is Cydia

      What is Cydia
Do you have a jailbroken iDevice? Anyone with a jailbroken device has Cydia on their devices and most of you know that Jay Freeman (a.k.a. Saurik) is the one behind Cydia but have you ever though why Cydia is called Cydia? What does this word mean?
Cydia is actually named after a moth. The Cydia pomonella is the scientific name for the “coddling moth,” or what is more commonly known as the stereotypical Apple worm.

This Wikipedia article claims that the Cydia pomonella has proved to be a problematic pest on several fruit trees, including apples and pears. The caterpillars burrow into the fruit, rendering it un-sellable. Cydia has become very popular for the iOS world as almost every iOS device uses the term jailbreak and install Cydia.
So, Cydia is named after a moth that's a pest for fruit trees as those of Apple trees. Yeah, that's the real mystery behind Cydia and if anyone says Cydia a different way, you are free to correct them.

    Jailbreak iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad’s iOS 4.1 with Limera1n

      Jailbreak with Limera1n
The well known iPhone hacker GeoHot has just released the ‘limera1n’ tool which makes it possible to jailbreak iOS 4.1. Good news is that Limra1n is untethered. The untethered feature was actually brought by @comex and is utilized by @geohot.
If you are on iOS 4.1, then head to limera1n.com to get your iGadget Jaibroken. Limra1n supports iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, iPad, iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G running on iOS 4.0 or 4.1. The tool is for Windows at the moment but it is supposed to get Linux and Mac OS support soon.

Please note that limra1n is released just ahead of ‘greenpois0n’ jailbreaking tool which is supposed to be a better one as the hacker @comex claims. We won’t hesitate in believing him because he has proved himself the master as @geohot has used @comex’ untethering feature in limra1n.

Well, if you just need a jailbreak and don’t want to get into a mess, just head to limera1n.com to get it now. If you are on iOS 4.0 and want a Jailbreak, I’d recommend Jailbreakme. And if you are looking for iOS 4.0 unlock, then you can do it in just 5 minutes!
