iPad Controlled 80% of the North American Tablet Market in Q2

iPad Controlled 80% of the North American Tablet Market in Q2When you are talking about slim, modern day tablets, the iPad was the first to market. Before Apple’s slate, the “tablet” category was filled with clunky devices that ran desktop software and carried price tags over $1,000. Obviously, being first has paid off for the company in dividends. I don’t think anyone would argue that the iPad has dominated the tablet market over the last two years, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon…

BGR passes on a report from Strategy Analysis this morning that points to some interesting findings. The market research firm believes that Apple sold approximately 6 million of the 7.5 million tablets shipped in the second quarter of this year.
Although the figure only represents sales in North America, the number is still staggering. Apple garnered nearly 80% of the tablet market on the continent in Q2, with essentially the same product (albeit slimmer and faster) that it launched in 2010.
    SA analyst Alex Spektor:

“Apple remains a long way ahead of its main rivals such as Motorola, Samsung, RIM, Asus and HTC. A combination of cool branding, user-friendly hardware, entertaining services and savvy retail distribution has made Apple a formidable market leader.”

With HP and webOS dropping out of the tablet game, and RIM looking like it is close to pulling the plug as well, Apple’s forecast is looking good. And on top of that, holiday season is around the corner. Yeah, Tim Cook and company don’t need an iPad 3 this year.

How to run ipad apps on iphone

How to run ipad apps on iphoneInteresting news for the Jailbreak community. With a simple hack app and it is possible to use the applications you have purchased for your iPad, directly installed on the iPhone 4. This is iTelePad2Pod. Let's see what it is.It’s as simple as downloading the iTelePad2Pod app and running the program from the Applications folder on your Mac.
Your iOS device must be jailbroken and have OpenSSH installed from Cydia because the tool basically sends the iOS app file via secure FTP protocol to your iPhone or iPod touch. The trick is in changing the app’s underlying metadata to add both devices as designated platforms. Don’t expect miracles, though. Some apps won’t work due to multitouch and design issues, like refusing to work in landscape.
This user's method is essentially the same, and can be done manually as well. All he does is change the app's permissions to 755, as well as the binary. Then toss the .app in your iPhone's /Applications folder, and respring. Voila, iPad app on your iPhone, working kinda sorta.
If you have a need to do this, and do not want to do the manual method, you can use ismoothproject's instructions:
    1. Download iTelePad2Pod Here.

    2. Unzip iTelePad2Pod.zip
    3. Move the iTelePad2Pod folder to the /Applications Folder on your Mac.
    4. Go to the moved iTelePad2Pod folder (/Applications/iTelePad2Pod) and open the iTelePad2Pod application.(/Applications/iTelePad2Pod/iTelePad2Pod.app)
    5. Follow instructions in the app.

Redsn0w 0.9.9b1 Download

Redsn0w 0.9.9b1 DownloadMuscleNerd, iPhone-Dev has just released redsn0w 0.9.9b1 with some major improvements. New version of redsn0w, redsn0w 0.9.9 b1 comes with tons of new feature including automatic device detection in DFU mode and now you don’t need to select IPSW manually, it will detect and download required files from Apple servers for you.Redsn0w 0.9.9b1 works on same device and firmwares but remeber it won”t detect or download iOS 5 beta files because they’re meant for developers only. You’ll have to manually select iOS 5 Beta IPSW files.Complete change log and release notes of redsn0w 0.9.9b1:A bunch of new features!

-DFU automatically determine which device and FW you have.
-Fetches pieces of public IPSWs from Apple (once).
-"Just boot" is a tethered boot.
-"Pwned DFU" puts your device in a pwned DFU state.
-"Recovery fix" gets past 1015 types of errors.
-"Select IPSW" is for picking non-public IPSWs.
-"SHSH blobs" has a bunch of options…
-"Fetch"– fetch current PARTIAL blobs on device
-"Verify" – cryptographically verifies existing blob files from either redsn0w, TinyUmbrella.
-"Submit"-both verifies and submits one or more blob files to Cydia
-"Query"-queries the Cydia server for all available full or partial blobs.
-"Stitch"-stitches either FULL or PARTIAL blobs to a STOCK or CUSTOM IPSW.
    1. FULL blobs stitched to a STOCK IPSW gives you a completely self-contained signed IPSW that iTunes will accept without any tricks.
    2. PARTIAL blobs stitched to any IPSW requires you to go into pwned DFU mode before running iTunes.
    3. Stitching either FULL or PARTIAL blobs to a CUSTOM IPSW also requires a pwned DFU start before iTunes restores.
    4. Stitching is NOT yet supported on iPhones (well, at least not tested).
    5. Will eventually support fetching the blobs directly from Cydia instead of a file on your computer.

iPad 2 hacked @comex

iPad 2 hackediPad 2 was just recently released, and already, a hacker is claiming that he's already cracked it open. A guy going by the handle of @comex at Twitter posted this video of the iPad 2, allegedly jailbroken. In the video, you cn see Cydia 1.1 running on the latest craze gadget from Apple.
He said in his tweet, "Would've had it yesterday if I didn't have to spend 15 days looking for a replacement exploit."  Although the hack came just in the heels of the iPad 2 release, it still took quite a bit longer than usual, presumably because Apple had tried to strengthen its defenses against hackers.
It's still a breakthrough nonetheless for those looking to jailbreak their iPad 2. Check out iPad 2 running on Cydia 1.1
